ICE Protest @ Clark County Jail
Join us in peaceful protest and demand an END to ICE.
In April 2025 the Clark County jail began incarcerating ICE detainees after signing a financial agreement with federal authorities. Local officials have suggested this money could help offset tax shortfalls.
We reject the notion that balancing budgets can justify stripping people of their dignity and ripping apart families.
Signs and sign material may be available on-site.

End ICE detention NOW. Until Clark County stops housing human beings for profit, we won’t stop.
We show up at every meeting. We keep asking questions. We expect transparency. We bring one more neighbor each time.
When a community organizes, the conversation changes. This is what people power looks like, and this is how we keep going.

Statewide Day of Community
Join us for an interfaith vigil as we stand together for justice and peace for our immigrant neighbors.
Inspiring speakers, live music & the collective love and support of more than 50 communities across Indiana.
All Are Welcome
Why We Gather
Sunday, August 30, communities in more than 50 cities and towns across Indiana will gather for a statewide day of interfaith public witness. Here in Southern Indiana, Do Something Southern Indiana (DSSIN) and local faith communities are holding a vigil to stand alongside our neighbors in immigration detention and the families who wait for them.
Our own community carries a particular responsibility: the Clark County jail is one of only a handful in Indiana that houses ICE detainees. Many of those detained — and many of the families affected by recent enforcement activity — are our neighbors, our coworkers, and our fellow congregants.
What This Is — and What It Is Not
This is a solemn community gathering, not a protest. There will be no confrontation and no disruption. We come together in the spirit of prayer, music, and quiet public witness — to be visibly present, to grieve with those who grieve, and to affirm families belong together.
What We Hope to Accomplish
Stand alongside families affected by detention so they know they are not alone.
Make our shared values visible: an interfaith community standing peacefully with the vulnerable.
Join our voices with more than 50 Indiana communities acting together on the same weekend.
Invite more of our neighbors into ongoing, compassionate community support.
What to Expect
A quiet, reflective gathering with a small number of speakers from local faith communities, music, meditative prompts, and shared moments of silence. The gathering is family-friendly and open to people of all faiths and of none.
How Faith Communities Can Help
Share the vigil announcement in your bulletin, newsletter, or pulpit announcements.
Encourage small groups, choirs, and families to attend together.
Clergy and lay leaders are warmly invited to participate in the program.

Tonight’s topic: Money in Politics.
This often refers to shady campaign financing, but plenty of money, favors & gifts are thrown around well after election results. What are your thoughts about elected officials trading stocks? Our officials, their family members or business associate’s income dramatically increasing while the official is in office? Join us we discuss money in politics, possible corruption and its corrosive effects on our institutions.

Tonight’s topic: Having examined the relationship between religion and government at a previous discussion, let’s dive into Christian Nationalism, or as some define it, Christofascism. What does it mean? How is it being inserted into our schools, government, daily lives? How effective has it been? Does it impact you or anything in your life?

You’ll leave this kickoff with a full awareness of how Clark County got here, true accounts of what this is doing to our neighbors, and an action plan of what you can do. Bring your family & bring your friends.
The decision to put money over morality was a choice. A choice made in the name of Clark County residents, but without our input.

**NOTE** This CoFound is on Tuesday, June 2, NOT Wednesday, June 3.
These days, virtually any political debate will become an argument about constitutionality, and few matters are more contentious than the separation of church and state.
Today we have national movements like Project 2025 and local efforts such as the LifeWise Academy trying to reshape our government and culture. Many religious activists further seek to coerce us in the most personal aspects of our lives.
At our next meeting, we’ll discuss the influence of religion, the rise of Christian nationalism and the contested boundary between church and state.
Join us for a moderated discussion and let your voice be heard.
